After leaving Binary Star and building up his Subterraneous Records crew, OneBeLo was ready to embark on his solo career. He recorded over a dozen songs that he thought weren't worthy of his planned solo debut L.I.F.E. (Lo Is For Everybody), but he still thought a select group of fans would be able to appreciate them. He packaged the intentionally unmixed songs as a treat For Everybody That UnderStands.
That understanding was shown in spades—Lo sold out of all of his thousands of copies within a few weeks, and conceptual favorites like “Double Essay (S.S.A.)” and “Alphabet Soup” built an anticipation for what Lo would come up with when he was focused.

This was the first Oddisee album I had ever heard. Still regularly come back to it. I know people who listen to underground always talk about the amazing artist you can find, but it was shock to find just an insane amount of talent from someone so unknown.

As soon as I heard the song Like Really I just had to buy the album. Then I finished listening to all the songs, and knew I made a good choice. Oddisee is one of the best hip hop artists on bandcamp.
